4th of July weekend was a little bit of a bust in that Mark had to work and sleep out in Morton Friday and Saturday nights, and it rained non-stop. And by non-stop I mean literally 48 hours straight. To the point that they had to block of some of the roads by our house. But I’ve been really trying to not be one of those moms that doesn’t do things just because
she doesn’t want to. If it’s something the boys would love though I think I’d hate it, I try to do it anyway. Case in point: the 4th on Broadway Parade. Mark was in Morton, but our good friends Ben and Erin agreed to go with me in the pouring rain to watch what remained of the planned event. As expected, the boys had a blast. And surprisingly, I actually had a good time too! Maybe it was seeing the complete excitement on the boys' faces that made it worthwhile.
Kolbe was thrilled to get to carry his own umbrella.
I feared that Rudy was going to be a wild man, but he actually stood with us the whole time and waved as cars, trucks, and people drove by.
Our church has a long covered walk way that faces Broadway, so we were able to hang out under there and stay somewhat dry.
A lot of the bigger kids who were standing down by the street watching would bring Kolbe and Reagan little prizes that people in the parade were throwing. Kolbe loves the blue frisbee.
And neither one of them could pass on the suckers!
And here's a little video of them enjoying it all!
I forgot my camera when we went over to Ben and Erin's for a BBQ on Sunday, but managed to snap a pic of the boys before mass in their 4th shirts that Pinkie sent them. Too cute!
